5 Must Tips to Avoid Prom Disasters


So we've all heard it before, Prom disaster stories. Seventeen even has column on it, remember "Prom Disasters" or "Prom Horror Stories"? It's the biggest dance of the year, and causes Juniors and Seniors to fret about the special occasion. They fret and stress so much on finding a perfect prom dress, that they might forget the slightest things, like setting an appointment for a limo, or breaking in there shoes. So to stop Prom from becoming a horrid night, here are some handy techniques that can keep you from making the same mistakes as someone who didn't have a let's say a "nice" prom. 

1. Before purchasing a prom dress, FIRST try it on with your undergarments! 

  • When trying out different wedding dress , be sure you try it on with the undergarments you are planning to wear under it. This will give you an idea of the correct sizing for your prom dress, and it can also give you a feel of what to expect when you have on your undergarments. This will prevent any bulge surprises on your prom day.


 

2. Search for your prom dress, at least 2-3 months in advance. 

  • Online shopping seems more popular these days, with ordering your dress with a click of a button. It saves gas, and it saves you that trip of going to a prom store, and being over crowded with the other girls there. In addition, it doesn't give you enough room for privacy or to be uniquely stylish with your prom dress, when there are other girls in the room searching for that same beautiful prom dress. Online shoppers need to be aware of the transit time, and the return and exchange policies, therefore it is wise to shop for a dress early, that way you won't be stuck with settling for a bland prom dress. Also, shopping early for prom, can give you the benefit of ordering a prom dresses that is in stock!


 

3. Practice wearing your shoes around, break them in! 

  • Breaking your shoes in will help ease your feet on the dance floor! This can also help you decide if the heels are too high for you to walk in for prom. Practicing walking in your shoes will help prevent any real major disasters like spraining your ankle or falling on the dance floor.


 

4. Don't get any crazy ideas and starve yourself! 

  • Yes, we are all aware of women trying to lose weight before ANY special event. After all, losing weight before the event is a great motivation to get back in shape. With that being said, that is not to say we condone any sort of crazy diets that are really UNHEALTHY for you. The matter of the fact is that we all need some fat cells to function properly. Although you might lose some weight by cutting down on your food consumption, realistically you'll also be cutting down on your muscle tissue that is essential for a healthy body. Just to sum it up, eat right, and exercise regularly, you don't want to suffer from any kind of malnutrition before prom!
